BOINC and SETI@home ported to Haiku

BOINCAt some point in the last month or two, I completed a port of BOINC for Haiku (gcc4-only). BOINC itself is exciting, but I also took some time to compile the SETI@Home enhanced client and tested it against the official SETI project.

It seems everything is in workig order :)

These apps are not "official", but I have packaged along with the application an app_info.xml file which allows you to use the anonymous-compiled app for an otherwise unofficial platform.

This isn't yet for the faint-of-heart, since there's no nice GUI to control it, but with the boinccmd app, you can control an instance of BOINC running on Haiku pretty easily. You'll also need to grab libcurl (either gcc2 or gcc4 will work).

The package can be downloaded here . Installation instructions would be identical to Solaris . I haven't had time yet to include instructions in the archive.

New SoB client available for Haiku!

Seventeen Or BustA few of you may know that we had been working on a port of the new SoB client (GIMPS mprime) for Haiku. Well, after some testing, and working with Louis Helm , we have finally published the client for all to use!

Get it here (there are separate gcc2/gcc4 versions available). Note that it also requires installing libcurl.

The mprime client is noticeably faster than the old sb client, even on Linux and Windows.

If you have any issues with the client, first read the readme.txt, and then feel free to pop into #teamhaiku on irc.freenode.net, post on the SeventeenOrBust forums or contact Urias McCullough directly.

Stick around, we've got some more projects under way!

Official dnetc client for Haiku! Moo.

MooI'm happy to announce that Haiku now has an official port of distributed.net 's dnetc client available as pre-release.

Get it here! (Update: moved to official release page!)

Also available is an updated BeOS port that should work on BeOS R5 net_server, R5 BONE, and Zeta as well. The BeOS port does run on Haiku, but please use the Haiku version for Haiku, as it will register RC5-72 and OGR-26  stats specific to Haiku in that case.

Once you have used the client, and submitted some points, please join Team Haiku on RC5-72  or Team Haiku on OGR-26 in order to help us show everyone what we're made of (you should be added to Team Haiku on both regardless of which you use to join - see the link at the bottom of the team page).

We already are making some good progress on these two projects, with our DC-Vault score increasing noticeably in the last couple days.
